Snapshots is an occasional series on the Skiviez blog with pictures that depict scenes from the day-to-day inner workings of Skiviez.

You know, as if a rare Virginia-based earthquake last month wasnt enough, we also got socked with Hurricane Irene a few weeks later. At the Skiviez warehouse, we worked through the problems and joked our way through itafter all, what could be next? A plague of locusts?

Of course not. How about a freak fall thunderstorm with flash flooding instead?

Some brides on budgets are tempted to cut a little here and there to be able accommodate all those guests and their costly entrees of choice. My advice to these ladies is that unless you want a ring without stones, dont do it. Skimp everywhere else but your engagement and wedding ring. Who needs $700 worth of letterpress invitations or extras that eat up your cash, like favors (often left on the table, anyway), a six-piece live band, or overpriced chair covers?

Strong metals are best for holding precious gems and diamonds securely.

Promise rings for men are growing in popularity. There is no black and white rule as to what makes a ring a promise ring. The important thing when considering one is looking at its significance. They can even be considered a traditional wedding ring because the beauty of them is that it means only what is symbolizes to you. If yours signifies marriage, then there is nothing saying that it cant be.

It is most common for a promise ring to signify a commitment a couple has made to each other. They have two most common uses.
