A handbag is a very important piece of accessory, and when choosing a handbag there is so much to consider; the fabric, the fastening and the style are just a few factors. But one of the most important considerations is the type of handle.
A long strapped handbag is very useful if you have a particularly active average day. You can wear the strap across your body leaving your hands free and an even distribution of the weight of your bag across your body.
This style of bag tends to look more casual and less for the ‘office’ look. At online store Very they have a few long strapped bags that are a perfect example of this style of bag, and you can see the whole range of women’s bags by visiting http://www.very.co.uk/women/accessories/bags/e/b/1591.end. My favourite is the Tula range. The Tula leather cross body bags are square in shape with long straps and a front pocket. They will lie flat against your body and probably hold far more than they would appear to. Almost a Mary Poppin’s bag!
However, if you are looking for perhaps a more sophisticated or ‘city’ look, then you will probably opt for the short handled bags. These bags can easily slip onto your shoulder or be held in your hand. These bags still free up your hands, but are prone to slipping of your shoulder at the most inappropriate times, this tending to be when you’re in a hurry! So perhaps learn to squeeze your arm tight against your bag or go for a bag that has both types of handles.
Very.co.uk has a few double strapped bags, including the Mischa Barton Kinsella Studded Tote Bag. This bag has handles and a detachable long strap. So you have both options, and are able to switch and change. Perfect solution for those of us who cannot decide which straps are best for us!
